I have a dream...

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream
I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream

I should know better...

but I can't help it. Well actually WE can't help it. Yes, he might very well try to deny it, but my Man enjoys watching WIPEOUT as much as I do.

We've only caught two episodes thus-far but I'll tell you this, there is nothing, and mean NOTHING more entertaining than watching stupid Americans* totally, and utterly, and in most cases with near fatal reckless abandon... wipeout.

If you've not watched it, you must! I cannot possible begin to describe the inner glee we get from watching these yahoos. If you've not watched it, here's a clip...

If you've not watched it, what are you waiting for?
8:00 pm Tuesday, on ABC.

Look, I know I should be embarassed, but screw it...

* OK, I admit that not all Americans are stupid... the gays for example... ;-)

road trippin' (the return)

Heading home after a relaxing weekend...

All I can say is...

...we need our own pool!

Saturday, July 26, 2008

everyone in the pool!

Take one pool, add 25-30+ men, sprinkle with glitter and booze, stir...

...et voila...

OK, so this is actually only a dramitization of the actual pool party... depending on how the pics turn out you might actually see a shot or two... and if I'm particularily in a good mood, I might even include one of me in my Electric Blue, Leopard Print swimsuit from Slick It Up...the 'boys' will recoginaze the brand... ;-)

(posted in advance, so really, it's weather permitting)

road trippin'

Well we know where we're goin'
but we don't know
where we've been.
And we know what we're knowing'
but we can't say what we've seen.

And we're not little children
and we know what we want.
And the future is certain
give us time to work it out.

We're on a road to nowhere come on inside.
Takin' that ride to nowhere we'll take that ride.
I'm feelin' okay this mornin' and you know.
We're on the road to paradise
here we go
here we go.

- - - - -

OK, so it's not exactly 'nowhere' but it IS Oshawa... so it's close.

Tomorrow.. . pool party!!!

I Kissed A Girl

Um, no... I didn't Kiss a Girl... It's that new whoop-dee-do, chart-topping hit by Katy Perry. It's being played to death and getting too much attention.

It's ok. It doesn't speak to me though. Personally I kiss the boys. That's the way God intended it, and who am I to question Her decision... The song is catchy, it's a good tune, but here's the thing...

It's not original and it's snagging my craw that the press is all enamoured by her. Ouuuuu she Kissed a Girl. Ouuuuu she's so radical. Ouuuuu she's pushing the envelope. Ouuuuu what an original concept to be so forthright about a girl on girl kiss.

Yea well... I'd be more impressed if this had not been done back in, oh... say 1995. Let me refresh your memory...

Jill Sobule.

The song: strangely enough... "I Kissed a Girl"

It was THEN considered a bit controversial - hey it was 13 years ago -, and yet it became a main-stream hit, thanks to the tad campy video staring Fabio as the clueless boyfriend of the sapphic explorer...

I liked the song. I loved the video. I bought the CD. Sure it was sappy and folksy and camp, but well... welcome to my world...

And I'll tell you this I much, prefer it to the Katy Perry version, and every time I hear it now on the radio I get a little irked... Every time I hear it, it's like that Jill is being kissed off...

So all I ask is the next time you turn up the radio and sing along with that oh so clever girl, remember, she's just rehashing something from last century.

And, in case you're not familiar with either song, here they are...

Happy Hump Day

You get what you pay for...

Seems I have discovered why Pierce Brosnan was cast...

...it was budgetary.

They didn't have to pay him.

Still begs to question why they didn't roll his wages into voice lessons though...

And I think this picture explains the REAL reason he's no longer 007...

'nuff said.

And um, Franco...

I was right and you were wrong.
(Really though, you should just get used to it...)
:-)

Julie Walters is not now and has never been married to Phil Collins, although as I mentioned earlier tonight the two did act in a movie together and portrayed a married couple.

"Julie Walters is married to Grant Roffey since 1997 after a 12-year relationship, the couple tend to a 70-acre organic farm they bought in Sussex. They have one child."

Franco, (and others) ... for more on Julie, click here...

Phil Collins has been married three times - still hanging on currently to lucky number three...

Orianne Cevey (24 July 1999 - present) (separated) 2 children
Jill Tavelman (4 August 1984 - 1996) (divorced) 1 child
Andrea Bertorelli (27 September 1975 - ?) (divorced) 2 children

Need to know more about him... here ya go.

Thank You For The Music*

Well Mamma Mia the Movie was everything I expected it to be, and more actually. And having seen Mamma Mia the Musical, I was expecting a lot.

What I was expecting was some fine work from Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski and Julie Walters.

What I wasn't expecting, (and this even after from having read some reviews of some fellow 'membership card holders' prior to seeing the film tonight) was just how excruciatingly horrendous Pierce Brosnan was in this film. OK his acting was ok, but Mother Mary... his singing. It... it... well to be frank it made the audience laugh every time he sang. Especially S.O.S. and indeed that was aptly selected for him because yes, S.O.S., he needed help!

Sure I'll say it, aside from perhaps the two playing Sophie and Sky, the rest of the cast's voices were not, how shall I put it... of Tony Award Winning calibre, BUT they were fine. In fact, their actually being less than perfect brought you in closer to the characters, because - lets face it... we all sing in the shower and in the house (usually when completely alone) but we all do it and especially to ABBA. We all have at least one song that we can't not sing... and oft is the case where there are many ABBA songs that illicit such spontaneous singing from a crowd: Waterloo, Dancing Queen and of course... Mamma Mia - their singing just made you feel like you were there with them...

...that is until HE sang. OH! MY! GOD!... You know I just made an appointment to get a hearing test, but after listening to Mr. Brosnan, I'm not so sure I wouldn't just rather go deaf...

Look, I don't want this to be all negative, the movie was fab. You really OUGHT TO GO... to hell with Batman, GO SEE MAMMA MIA!, just remember what you've read here and plug your ears when you sense Brosnan is going to sing... trust me, you'll know... I think we humans, like most other animals can sense a storm, or an earthquake before they hit, can sense him before he sings...

- - - - -

What did I enjoy most in the film? Well, aside from a couple of uber-hotties in nothing but bermuda shorts... and of course Colin Firth's character's new found fabulousity and his extremely dishy Greek boy toy,; it was when all the women on the island were singing and dancing to Dancing Queen. The audience was so into it. Singing along, dancing in their seats and when the scene ended they applauded. (In fact that happened a few times.) Tell me, in your lifetime how many times can you recall an audience applauding, and I mean sustained applauding DURING the film, and then at least 3 times thereafter...

This movie won't likely win any major acting or singing awards, it might garner an Oscar nomination or two and perhaps a statue or two for the more technical aspects, and you know what? good for them; this is not a serious drama, it won't change your life... or will it? Mamma Mia lets you escape, truly escape for 2 hours. and really that is life changing.

Mamma Mia is Fluff.
Mamma Mia is Fun.
Mamma Mia is Fabulousity.

Misster-Kitty gives Mamma Mia 9.5 hairballs out of 10 And we all know why it lost that half point.

- - - - -

* except for when Pierce Brosnan sang.

Mamma Mia... here we go again...

We saw the stage Musical back in January, and now we're off to the movie...

I've heard a lot of good and a lot of bad. Personally I don't expect much from Pierce, and indeed I'm not going to see him... I want to see Meryl, Julie and Christine...

...and of course all the shirtless chorus-men...

...AND duh...
the ABBA music!!!

so long, soul sister

Today Misster-Kitty lost a role model,
dare I say... a friend...

Just For Laughs: Le Grand Charivarir

So we decided to go see the night parade for the closing of the Just For Laughs Festival. They are usually interesting (to say the least) if not a tad on the overly artistic... and by that I mean, you generally don't really understand what your looking at... This year was to be no exception..

But before the parade we walked through the Festival Grounds and saw three humongous red ants... I'll never say another disparaging work about cockroaches and NYC again...

Then we made our way up to Sherbrooke and waited for the sun to set. Unfortunately because of the high humidity in the air AND the fact that the parade route was partially lit by flairs, there was a lot of smoke and so these pics are not of the highest quality...

And so let it begin.

Gimmie a beat...

(l-r)
back row: Richard
front row: Kenny, the Birthday Gurrrrrrl, Franco, Jason, Didier and Ronny.

After Dinner, Dessert and Presents, we all came back to our place, headed on up to the rooftop, opened a bottle of Limoncino Evangelista and watched the Fireworks. (Australia)

A great time was had by all...

Just For Laughs Gala

Back in May I won tickets to one of the Just For Laughs Galas. After a couple of months waiting, the night finally arrived.

The host was Craig Ferguson, whom I have to say I find rather a dish. I love a Scottish accent... I try as often as I can to watch the Late Late Show, but also most nights I'm asleep on the couch before it starts. When I do manage to stay awake however, Ferguson always makes me lol. So I was super stoked to see him live...

The first comedian was good. An Asian guy names Stephen something r other. (I forgot to get a pic of him) I think his best line was how his mother couldn't pronounce his own first name... "Stee-been. ... Stee-been", "How can you not say my name? YOU gave it to me?" I dunno but this amused me greatly...

The Second comedian up, was CUTE with a capital Q! HAWT! Scottish as well, and his first name was Craig as well, Sorry I can't remember his last name. He came out in a leather kilt dancing to to Madonna's "Hung Up"... no surprise then that he was a big old Mo! And a cutie-pahtootie!

The majority of his routine was slash and burn on celebs. Joe, you'd have loved his comments on Mariah... I swear you two could be related!

Next was "that Canadian Guy" He's always amusing...

Then came some slight of hand / pick-pocket dude from I think, Eastern Europe... cant say for sure, and I cannot recall the guys name... At any rate he took my watch, which as it was happening I realized but then thought, "I'll go with it cause I'll probably end up on stage..." And lo, only moments later after he emptied HIS pockets on stage he asked all those missing watches, wallets etc to join him on stage.

As I took the stage he asked which was mine., I pointed to my watch and he commented "oh the cheap one" to which I replied, "That's true but then you missed the digital camera sitting on my lap when you took it" (The audience liked that!) Later I got to tie him up... heh. So look for me on next season's Just For Laughs...

While on stage I thought, what the hell... and took a pic...

Next was Elvira Kurt. I've seen her I think 4 times now, and she never fails to entertain.

This pic sucks but it was the best I got of her... she's a little hyperactive so they were all a blur.

Then came Bruce Bruce. Yup that's his name... well stage name at any rate. And from the size of him, it's no surprise you say his name twice. He was a flippin riot! Very good stuff.

Then there was another dude. Very funny in fact. Mike Birbiglia (also doing a one mane show at the fest: "Sleepwalk with me" HE did a routine on being a hypochondriac, but actually having cancer. I swear I damn near wet myself. (no blur-free pics here either)

Then there was some other from "The Office" (US) He was ok, singing a medley of songs adding the lyrics "Take your panties off" into all of them, including the Canadian National Anthem. -he should stick to that schtick, cause his regular stand-up was dullsville with a capital Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

And then, before I knew it, the night was over... save for Craig Ferguson doing one last routine... a no-holds barred number on why Scotland rules and everyone else sucks!

...haggis and highland dancers...

...men in kilts...

...drinking...

...Scotty from Star Trek (even though he's Canadian, not Scotish)...

...Sean Connery...

And last but not least the finale...

(Please note Shrek at the top of the stage, and the Loch Ness Monster immediately below him, both waving Saint-Andrews Flags.)

I had a Bee-last and cannot wait to see myself on TV. lol

It's funny, 'cause it's true.

Looks like the notorious J*O*E has some competition...

I've linked to I Can Has a Cheeseburger, and and I Haz a Hotdog before, and now the fine folks from LOLZ bring you Totally Looks Like. It's new so there's only a couple of pages, but do yourselves the favour, its fun stuff.

And while your at it check out LOLcatz and Hotdogz
.

we be trippin'

Road Trippin' that is...

Next weekend, we're headed to Oshawa. Hey! don't judge us! We're going there, along with four others, to spend the weekend at friends, to attend their annual pool party blow out. (Men, men and more men, booze and clothing optional)

Anyhoo, the reason for this particular post is because I'm gonna throw together a couple CDs for the trip and I wanted to ask for your suggestions as to 'great road trip songs'.

Don't hold back, but please keep in mind it's going to be a vehicle full of gay men, so ease up on the:
"Life is a Highway by Tom Cochrane" ,
"On the Road Again by Willie Nelson",
"Born to be Wild by Steppinwolf",
"Where the Streets Have No Name, by U2"
and "Everyday is a Winding Road by Sheryl Crow" type-suggestions...

...however...

"Where the Streets Have No Name, by PetShopBoys",
"Route 66 by Depeche Mode"
"Fly on the Windshield by Depeche Mode"
and
"These Boots are Made for Walking by Mz Nancy Sinatra" type-suggestions are MOST welcome...

Ok people, impress me!

speaking of ABBA...

The wait is over...

IT. HAS. ARRIVED.

We will be seeing it, come hell or bell-bottoms...

A romantic evening for two

So it was our 3rd anniversary today.

I took the Mister out for dinner and a movie...

Dinner*:
-Hotdogs
-Fries
-Sodee-pop

Snack**:
-Lemon cookies
-Pommery Champagne (ok, I do have SOME class!)

Movie:
-Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D

Dessert ( courtesy of the Mister):
-Ben & Jerrys (while strolling through the village).

...and I'm taking Mister to see Mado Chant ABBA on the 31st, so yet another opportunity for Champagne...

Not your typical anniversary but well, we are far from typical.

- - - - -

Never let it be said that romance is dead.
;-)

Next year I think we'll go to a flea market.
HEH!

- - - - -

* Please note that we were running late due to an unexpected visit of a friend 90 minutes before we should have left for the evening. We left our house at 6:45pm and the movie started at 7:30pm By the time we got our movie tickets we had 10 minutes.

**I've got to say Mr. was a little impressed that I snuck in the Champers to the theatre. I mean you cannot have a special event when you're involved with un vrai français without Champagne. It's just bad form. All else is forgiven so long as the bubbly is flowing.

Something Good.

Didier,

Perhaps I had a wicked childhood.
Perhaps I had a miserable youth.
But somewhere in my wicked miserable past
I must have had a moment of truth.

For here you are.
Standing there.
Loving me.
Whether or not you should.

So somewhere in my youth
or childhood
I must have done something good.

Nothing comes from nothing.
Nothing ever could.
So somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good.

Here you are standing here Loving me.
Whether or not you should.

So somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good.

Nothing comes from nothing.
Nothing ever could.

So some where in my youth or child
or childhood
I must have done something.
Something good.

- - - - -

Before Saturday July 16th 2005, I must have done something good, because that was the day I met Didier. Three years after, I still don't know what it was, but I'd do it again if I could.

Happy Anniversary.

La Rain, er, I mean La Ronde

Part of this weekend's festivities was to go to La Ronde on Sunday, as our friends from Québec come up once a summer specifically to go to the park... Well as you may have noticed... it was raining here all morning. It stopped around 11:30 am and so we took advantage of the lull in the weather and hauled ass over to La Ronde as fast as we could.

We lucked in, for a while at least. We entered the park and walked straight on to the Boomerang. Then after that directly onto the Manitou. We LOVE this one... so relaxing... no really it is!

This was taken by Didier when it started...
(l-r) Jeff, Stef, Kenny, Me.

And then a few moments later when we were up up up in the air...

So far so good, the weather was holding... almost. As we walked to the Goliath it began to spit rain. By the time we arrived it was a steady drizzle. But, they had not stopped the rides so we went on the Goliath.

By the time we were on the ride and ascending it was raining. And can I just say this... rain, while you are on a roller coaster going 110 km/ph hurts! It feels like hail hitting your face... FAST, and it's not pleasant! I'm really not sure WHY they let the rides go on in actual rain... whatever, it was still ok, but not as good as say, oh, I dunno, when it's NOT raining maybe...

When we got off the ride, it was, yup... still raining , so we got a bite to eat.

The rain let up again, so we went on the Le Monstre. We only waited about 5 minutes and, of course... by the time we were going to the top... rain. Not as much as on the Goliath, but then the Monstre does not move as fast... so who can say...

Fine, it's raining, we can deal. We go to the Bumper Cars... Picture it... five homos on the bumper cars... All I could think of was Grace Jones singing... "Pull up to my Bumper Baby..." That was a hoot and a half!

Thereafter, we tried to wait out the rain in the arcade, but soon realized we'd waste too much money. What I also realized was I'm a pretty good shot, on the shooting gallery. 11 out of 15 was my high score. A close second was Didier with 7, and Stef with 5.

Rain. Oh my god, the place was getting flooded. and in fact the main road to the front of the park did flood, and as we left and were headed to the bus, a car 'drove' through the river (once road) and caused waves the went a good 10 feet past the sidewalks...

The biggest lesson learned here... if it's just a bit of rain here and there, La Ronde is great because there are NO LINES... where there would usually be 90 minute plus line ups. Thank god for Seasons Passes! And really, we got on five rides in just over 90 mins... that's not bad at all!

My guess is we'll be back next week! lol Pray for rain... well just a little!

Get a Life.

Pardon the pun, but that's the first thing that comes to mind after reading the following article.

This is the part that pushed me over the edge...

The coalition's members have suggested the views of the controversial abortion rights advocate do not represent all Canadians and shouldn't be supported by the Governor General.

"The award has been given to many people who should not have received it, but nobody more than Morgentaler," Campaign Life Coalition national co-ordinator Mary Ellen Douglas told CTV.ca on Wednesday.

Um, excuse the fuck out of me, but when did this 'coalition' become :
a) the deciding factor in who received the Order of Canada
b) the voice of all Canadians

The Order of Canada is NOT a religious award. If it's deemed applicable to be given to a person of religious occupation it is because their work falls within the Order's directive, that is: the highest honour within the Canadian system of honours, with membership awarded to those who exemplify the order's Latin motto, desiderantes meliorem patriam, meaning "they desire a better country". To recognize the lifetime contributions made by Canadians who made a major difference to Canada, as well as the efforts made by non-Canadians who have made the world better by their actions.

Dear Coalition,
Nobody tells you who to pray to, how to pray, when or where. Until you 'collectively' become the Governor General, it's not your choice.

Church and State.
Separate.
Period.
End of Discussion.

What to do, what to do...

It's Monday morning, I just woke up 15 minutes ago... What should I do?

a) Go back to bed

b) Go catch some rays

c) Post that I'm off, just to bother Maria.

d) all of the above

It's decided. I will choose 'd'. First I'm posting, then I'll catch a few more zzzzz's before catching some rays.

Morning y'all!

patience my pets

YESSSSSSSSSSSS, I'm gonna post TONS of pics from our vacation to France, but there are 6326 in total... I'm not shitting you! So it's taking a while to sort...

I'm actually creating a separate blog for the vacation recap, so I need a few more days to sort out and post. As I told TickleBear a couple days ago... There's a rush job, there's a good job, and then there's an OCD-Homo way... Guess which path I'm manically going down?

So, give me a couple more days and all will be revealed...

Until then, a quick shot from the Louvre, Denon wing looking across the Place du Carrousel toward the Richelieu wing.

Bonne Fête, Canada!

You don't look a year over 130!

...who knew you were 141!?

Pink Rabbits!

White Pink Rabbits!

White Pink Rabbits!

White Pink Rabbits!

OK! FINE! So technically these are not White Rabbits. In fact they're really not Rabbits at all, but their hearts were in it...

I just love how reserved and timid these 'Lapins Rosé de Paris' are.

(This is just a quick pic from Saturday's Pride Parade in Paris.)
