If you remember, back on April 1st I posted about an adorable little pug named Casey who is very ill, with a Liver-Shunt; the very disease that we feared for a time Santi might have been suffering from. Well she is in desperate need of surgery to safe her life, but this doesn't come cheap and it costs $4000+ As she is a dog at the SPCA (being fostered at the moment by my friend Kristina) the money is hard to come by... she has no Doggy-Daddy or Mommy to claim her and cover her fees.

Well up to this morning $1400 was raised. Then this evening a very wonderful woman in BC named Erin Bessette, an animal lover and a Pug owner herself, donated the remaining $2600 !!!

How amazing is that!

So, yes, today is a very wonderful day for doggies here in Mtl... Santi's mouth, while having a little more room for his tongue... AND food, will be very much happier without loose wiggly teeth, infections and rotting teeth and NOW... fresh breath and SUPER CLEAN TEETH... but too, a sweet little dog who deserves a chance at a happy life, Casey the Pug, will now get that chance.

As I type this, Santiago is asleep on my lap, in bed...

The Dental Surgery today was a success... 11 incisors were removed and 2 pre-molars. It appears as though the 12th incisor fell out sometime in the past 2 weeks... (That's just how bad things in his wee mouth were) Those that remained got a proper cleaning and within 15 minutes of the procedures being completed, he woke up and much to the Vet's amazement was hell bent on standing up and walking around.

He's of course on pain meds and antibiotics for the next little while; soft food and no chews... My only concern is no fetch for the next two weeks. Honestly I am already pre-emptively afraid for my life... Santi lives for Fetch and fetch alone....

Thanks to all for your kind words, prayers and positive energy. Any time a dog as small as Santi must be put under for a procedure, there's a risk. He's only 3.5 lbs... it's a very fine line to be walked, but as with his de-peanutization last March, he came through with flying colours.

With the all clear from the Vet last Tuesday we now have the green light for Santiago's Dental Surgery. So, tomorrow morning I drop the wee buggar off at the Vets for the Extractions and Cleaning, and then pick him up on my way home.

As ever I come to you asking for your prayers, positive energy and quick healing vibes. Think of the wee one tomorrow around 2 pm. Please and thank you.

Well this is better, some positive news...

Home from the Vets. Ultrasound shows nuthin! Nada! Zip!

The Vet there says to hold off on the Biopsy for the moment and do more blood work to compare the results from the first two sets.

I talk to Santi's regular Vet demain to see where we go from here but for sure, no Liver Shunt, no inflammation, no abnormal shape or size...

It's true it could still be something internal that does not show, however with more specific blood tests this could be detected, and the Vet at the hospital tonight said there's really no reason to postpone the teeth extraction any further...

We'll see what the Vet says in the morning.

Just got a call from the Vet. There will be no surgery today. The blood tests came back and there is definitely something amiss with his liver that precludes them from administering any anesthetic. High Bile Acids and Liver Enzymes.

I have to take him to a specialist for an ultrasound and a biopsy on some liver tissue before they will proceed.

This is not entirely bad news, but it’s not good.

I pick him up tonight and take him home… stinky breath, teeth and all. And play fetch with him til one of us passes out… I’m putting money on my passing out first… you’d be wise to do the same.

Well, we didn’t get much sleep last night…. Ok *I* didn’t get much sleep, he slept like his usual log-self.

We got up early nice and early (6:30)l he kept doing was going over to his food dish… or where a food dish would be…then looking at all “WTF? Where’s my food dude?!”

We got dressed, me in jeans and a grey polo (thank god for Casual Fridays…Especially on a Thursday), he in his Orange Wouppie Groovy shirt from BHV-La Niche in Paris. (It’s very important to look your best at all times!) We arrived a bit early and did a little walk around the Vets and dropped off a little new here and a little bomb there…

They opened the doors at 9 and we went inside. He was soon whisked off for his first blood test and then came running back onto my lap. 10 Mins later they gave him a Tbs of food which he inhaled faster than either Chachi or Flea could ever try… And then a quick re-cap of recent health effects, a weigh in tipping the scales at 1.6 kg and his temperature (normal) And a few signatures later He was taken to the back. I signed a few papers and that was it.

By now he’s had his second batch of blood work and those have been sent off to the lad. I should hear back about the results by 2 pm, at which point I’ll update y’all again

So far, so good.

Thanks for all your support and love… and for now I ask ya to think happy thoughts and send ‘em to Santi.

As you might recall, Santiago will be back at the Vet tomorrow morning to have his front teeth removed. Well things just keep getting more complicated for the little wee buggar!...

I got a call from the Vet yesterday at work... I knew that could not be good, and well... his WBC count is low (but that is easily attributed to his teeth and infection - gingivitis), more troubling are elevated liver enzymes. At first she was concerned about a Liver Shunt (where the blood vessels go around the liver and not through it, thereby not cleaning and detoxifying the blood)

This can be an issue because you really cannot put them under. I pointed out that he was under last year for his teeth cleaning and his neutering.. (This was done with a different vet so it was not clear to her) and he was fine; so we've all but ruled out the shunt and gastro as he's only been sick (with diarrhoea) once over a year ago. It could st

ill be an infection or inflammation of the liver, or a few other minor issues. So he's been fasted since 8 pm tonight and when we get to the vet tomorrow they will take some more blood samples then feed him a tablespoon of food and wait an hour, take more blood and send them out rush. They should have the results by 2 pm, They will call me at work. Unless there is a reason to postpone the dental work, he then will be put under at 3 or 4 pm .

I work til 7 pm (to accommodate my taking him to the vet in the morning for 9 am) and will pick him up on the way home for the weekend. I am off Friday and Monday which is just as well because he'll be highly medicated on pain meds so I'll have to keep an eye on him.

Tomorrow is not going to be a great day. I'm not looking forward to it whatsoever. If you feeling it, I'd appreciate some prayers and or positive vibes sent along to Santiago.

If you know me, even if only slightly, you know or should, that I love nothing more in this world than Santiago. He truly is my angel on Earth and has gotten me through MUCH in the short 16 months he’s been in my life; a heart breaking break-up, a couple of nasty illnesses. Given me infinite unconditional love. Cuddles in tight to me when he knows I’m sad, or lonely. Causes me to smile with nothing more than a look. And never asks for ANYTHING in return save food and water and unlimited time to play fetch… the later something I try desperately to fulfill.

Well I took the wee monster to the vet on Saturday for his check-up and I was simply devastated. I have to take him back on Thursday to have all (12) his front incisors extracted. It’s a common enough issue with Chihuahuas. Small mouths make for a lot of dental issues. The thing is he had his teeth checked and cleaned a year ago and they were spotless and in tip top shape! 2 Weeks ago I took a look was totally grossed out. I immediately ran out, got him a little tiny doggie tooth brush and beef flavoured toothpaste but alas it was well too late.

The Vet said his molars are in great shape, if only a little tartared. The Canines “look good” but she’s a little worried one might have some damage below the gum-line. The front incisors are all wiggly and rotting. She also said that it’s not my fault and virtually impossible to have avoided, but that don’t make Papi feel any better. It’s certain that had I taken him earlier it’s possible the extractions might not have all been needed but we’re talking probably 4+ months ago and even she said it’s highly unlikely that I'd have felt the need to check… but still I blame myself.

She said I shouldn’t worry, they these teeth really are not used in domesticated dogs, especially house pets as small as he. But again I still feel guilty. i just do.

THEN she said, “And he’ll feel so much better after his gums heal. He won’t be in any more pain and discomfort.” PAIN AND DISCOMFORT?!?! This dog must have some amazing pain tolerance because he will play fetch for hours. And I mean HOURS! The record is over 6.5 hours; non-stop; and it was the humans who gave in and called it quits, not him. And he’ll play tug a war too. Not a lot, as it’s never really been his "thing” but even the morning of the appointment he did play tug a war a little but…

The vet said after he heals he’ll probably want to play even more because his little mouth won’t hurt. MORE?! Are you mad woman?

So I take the little booger in Thursday morning on my way to work and pick him up on my way home. And all I can say is thank god my Bonus came in last week ‘cause it’s all but been eaten up by the Check-Up and the Dental Appointment. Don’t get me wrong, I’d sell a kidney to cover any bill for him, but so had my heart set on an HD PVR… alas that is gonna have to wait, cause my little guy needs his Papi and Papi will do what it takes. My happiness comes after his.

I am not looking forward to Thursday. Le sigh.

So, sorry Pinky, Sorry Mom and Dad, Sorry Nan, Sorry Friends… I love you all to the very end of my days, but Santiago is at the front of the receiving line because simply put he is my Sun, my Moon and my Stars. He is the very center and very ends of my universe.

So here's the thing, and I readily admit it; I am NOT a fan of Lady BlahBlah and I also admit I take pleasure in watching this.... NOT because this woman is in dire need of help from someone that cares more about HER than her their paycheck... but because this is a perfect visualization of what I equate to her "talent" in the first place.

I do not like listening to her at all. I think she is indeed All Flash, NO Substance. Quantity, not Quality. Smoke and Mirrors. Subterfuge. She is tone deaf and Nasal.

I am truly stunned at those of my friends that think she's all that. I just do NOT see it or hear it. It's as if there is some hypnotic notes in her music that due to some biological reason I am immune to. I'm not complaining mind you.

I saw the video on FB through two different friends… one was all ""LOL the other was… "Poor dear… she’s working herself too hard"…

Fuck that shit! Why is she working herself so hard?!?

Look, if she is as talented as they say (not that I agree with ANY of “them”) then she could be more substance than glitz. Instead it's shock value and out-doing her last outsit and staged media sighting...

She’s created this freak-persona and what’s truly amusing is that not only is she NOT in competition with anyone (to the degree of batshit that she is day and night, on and off stage) but what is so incredibly astounding is that she’s in fact, in competition with HERSELF! She keeps trying to top herself… well hun, it just ain't possible…

And if this is where she is after what? A year and a bit she will soon self destruct...

A friend recently commented that "Lady Gaga has a vague resemblance to Amy Winehouse... Amy disappeared just as Lady Gaga took over the world... Coincidence???"

...well "take over the world" ??? Alas this is one of "Those friends" He's also a mid-30 something gay man that is more insanely enraptured by Twilight than is healthy for even a female Tween... so we'll just chalk up that "taking over the world" review to pre-pubesenct hyperbole.

Now to the comparison with Amy Winehouse. Yes, to a certain degree I can see it... Both came from relative obscurity, both seem to relish the freak factor and are somewhat media whores, HOWEVER hopped up on heroin and stone cold drunk and Amy can STILL sing the shit outta BlahBlah.

But enough of my ranting... It seems that the comments on You Tube are somewhat divided. In the video, what do you think the issue is? Dehydration and or Exhaustion? Drugs and or Alcohol? Or a little bit of both?

To tell you the truth I don't know but I can say this, as much as I dislike her music I feel truly sorry that someone did not pick her up and take her off stage. She obviously was in no state to continue the concert (even if that was the last song, or an encore.)

In the end there was nothing romantic about this, it was just bad. rah ah ah

I just got home from work, but to get home I had to walk OVER a car the intersection near my home.

As I started to cross de Maisonneuve (coin de Lormier), the driver of the car crossed AFTER the light changed red and then pulled up as far as he could (his front tires mid-crosswalk) his bumper touching the car in front of him his back bumper across an entire lane of perpendicular traffic.

As I approached, I motioned for him to back up so I could walk between him and the car in front of him... you know ON the Cross walk... He gave me the finger and motioned for ME to walk BEHIND his car...

OH NO HE DI'NT!

So I climbed up his bumper and walked across the hood of his car and down the other side. He jumped out of his car yelling and screaming calling me an asshole and said, "I'm calling the cops! I have witnesses!"

I said, "Yea, so do I! The same ones that saw you drive through a Red Light, stop OVER the cross walk and block a lane of traffic in the intersection. And you expect me to have to walk around YOU and into TWO LANES OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC? Be my guest. Call the cops. DO IT!"

He called me an asshole again and headed back into his car.

I said "Yea, I'm the asshole. Learn how to fucking drive!"

Then the lights changed, I started to cross de Lormier and two cars honked their horns and clapped their hands at me.

But DAMN! I forgot to get his licence Plate! ARG!

2 oz Chartreuse
1 oz Blue Curacao

Ice

To a cocktail shaker add the Chartreuse and the Blue Curacao with and some ice.

Shake til well chilled.

Strain into two champagne flutes.

Last night, Pinky took me out for dinner to celebrate my upcoming Birthday (March 8th) He took me to L'Express on St-Denis. It's a rather wonderful and traditional French Bistro.

Dinner was DIVINE!

He had the Mousse de Foie de Volaille et Pistache and I had the Chèvre Chaud for starters. the Mousse was TO - DIE - FOR!

For main course he had the Confit du Canard, and I had the Pot au feu. OMG! DEEEEELISH!

Of course all was served with exquisite baguette and the most sour and divine cornichons, I think we ate a 1/4 of the jar.

All was washed down with the most luscious Barollo 2005. Dry, and satisfying.

We declined a coffee (although it's wonderful there) and dessert, and chose to take a stroll on St-Denis for 20 mins and then return just a couple doors up from L'Express, to Suite 88.

Suite 88... my most favourite Chocolatière (in Canada). For dessert we had Chocolat Chaud. His à la vanille; mine, avec fleur du sel. Both decadent and luscious and ever so good. He also bought me two boxes of my favourites... Aiguillettes à l'Orange and Cerises à l'Eau de Vie... neither of which will be opened until my birthday, at which point we will induldge with a glass of Pommery.

Such a lovely evening.

Well to be honest, not just now, but for a week now.

For those of you not on CrapBook let me bring you up to date... Since LAST Saturday afternoon, almost one full week now, I've been pooping up a storm... well I say "pooping" in the looses sense of the term (literally. Pun Intended) Seems I picked meself up a right nasty gastro bug.

It's incredible really. I mean to me it's become staggering, in a week I've gone through a complete 16 rolls of toilet paper!

I took off Monday and Tuesday, because to be frank there was no way I'd have made the hour long commute to work.

By Wednesday, or Day 5 as I call it, I decided that aside from getting a very lard cork there was no stopping me and so I sought out professional help. So I left the house at 8 am and headed to one of the more efficient walk in clinics in the city. It only took two hours to see the Doctor (and only 3 trips to the VERY public washrooms)

It's not an easy thing to talk face to face with a complete stranger and detail the rather colourful and embarrassing events of the past few days but as I was really more than ready to be done and over with the soup factory I'd become that I didn't really care.

After some poking and prodding, his concern was no so much something viral but something internal and so off to the Emergency for a 'scan' I was sent. Sill me I thought it would be something like an ultra sound...

By 11:20 AM I get to the Emerg but even with the Dr's requisition I still have to be put through the system...

Triage and Registration take an hour. And when I get to the waiting room (after a deposit at the Porcelain Bank) my hopes are not doing well, the room is FULL. Magically a mere 10 minutes later I hear "Mr Ellis, Room Six. Ellis. Room Six." Am I delirious? Am I so dehydrated that I'm imagining this?

It's approximately 12:30PM as I enter room Six. The first thing I see is that it has an en suite washroom... the second thing I see is that this is the Gyno examining room... but seeing as it's got it's only toilet I don't care so much.

The Doctor is a pro. She strides into the room and opens with "So you're having a pretty shitty week I hear?..." I like her. I like her alot! After 30 minutes of talking she rattles off a list of "what we're gonna be doing": a culture smear (yea I;d never heard of that before), blood work, stool samples and the aforementioned scan. She explains that this is a CT scan (in my head all I'm thinking is "I have diarrhea... DIHARHEA!?!?! what the hell?!")

She leaves and I'm left in near silence for the next 30 mins. Then the first of what I seem to recall as 4 nurses arrived. Arrived with a tray of needles and vials. After seven, yes SEVEN attempts at drawing blood (five in the arm and twice in my hand) she admits defeat and says she'll send another nurse to get my blood. "Thank you nurse Ratchet" I think and drop back onto the strecher.

20 mins later another nurse arrives with a liter bottle of some Spanish inquisition type beverage that I am to consume. "It doesn't taste all that good, so I've been told. Sorry. I'll be back in ten minutes to see how you're doing" And she was right it DID NOT taste good at all. Sweet and sour at the same time, with none of the deliciousness of a chinese feast. Oh! and it has the consistency of dish soap.

as I'm drinking this the third nurse arrives to get me blood... and guess what? yup! she fails as well... three more attempts. It is concluded that due to my dehydration my veins have collapsed a little. Lovely. But, BUT... they have to get an IV into so she keeps spearing me. On the 12th attempt she is able to get a vein and takes my blood and inserts an IV and then Nurse Two returns with a toilet on wheels and asks me to provide a "sample". "Not a problem" I say...

But it is a problem. Because I've not eaten since the night before there is nothing left inside of me, and because I'm so dehydrated I have nothing left. I am literally Empty. This is where the Culture smear comes in. The Doctor returns, with a latexed hand, she says "Roll over and push." And She's in. I reply "What? No Dinner? No Movie?" Then she says we really still need some samples, give it another try..."

Anybody (other than TB probably) know what colour human bile is. I do. It's actually a rather nice shade of green.

Finally some rest. I'm alone in the room until 5:00 PM. I'm told that I have to be moved and I'm taken to the over-flow / nut-job area... basically a locked corridor between Emergency and the rest of the hospital, but they give me a nice easy chair and park me next to the washroom. I make a couple of phone calls (Work, Pinky) and then return to my chair. Fortunately I've had my iTouch and have had soothing music and games to occupy my time... but the battery is almost out. Being the savvy man that I am I've brought my charger cord with me and lo, there is a power outlet right beside the chair. This day is starting to turn around.

At 6:15 PM, with my IV done, I'm escorted to the Scanning room. They set me up and hook the IV intake to what they tell me is an Iodine Injector. Sounds lovely, no? The tech informs me that there will be a slight discomfort when the injector starts. And she's right, IF by "slight discomfort" she meant a "seething electrical type shock with an accompanying burning sensation going up your arm" Fortunately it only lasts 5 or so seconds and the whole scanning process is only about 3 minutes.

Back to my arm chair, it's now 7 Pm and I spot Pinky's face in the waiting room. I call him into the hallway I'm with. This is when i notice the caution sign attached to the curtain by my chair. Seems I'm still high risk and that I realize is the reason I was separated from the rest of the herd. I feel proud.

Bless his heart, Pinky came directly from work and has been looking for me in the waiting room just after I was taken for the scan, but he waited (like the name of the room suggests) for me. and continued to stay with me through the evening. Making me laugh (which was needed because to tell you the truth, while I like being by myself and require "me time" this is not the sort of time you like being alone.

At 10:15 PM The radiologist comes by and confirms that everything is "clean inside". (No Shit! I think... - oh wait, that's like a double double entendre...)

By 11:00 PM I'm exhausted and just wanna go home. The Doctor - another Doctor actually. A Cute, handsome McSteamy Doctor arrives. Asks me all the same questions I've been asked at least three times already throughout the day, and it's deemed "a nasty viral bug" We talk about possible causes and treatments and decide that letting it 'run it's course' (again pun intended), Provided," i say, "that you give me a note excusing me from work". He writes me a note, having me off work til next Wednesday, allowing time for things to pass and then, 'firm up'.

We leave the Hospital at 11:30 and I get home a little after midnight....

And here Three days later, things ARE beginning to firm up. GOD I still wish i know where and wow I picked this bug up, because to tell you I DO NOT want to go through this again...

... on the plus side I'm down a few pounds, so it's not been a complete waste of time! lol

It's no real shock, considering the building I live in is a little over 100 years old, but I am lo to report that Misster Kitty has Mice.

They seeming have come out of no where, but this I know is not the case. However I will say they have been VERY sneaky and extremely stealth. I was 2 of them last Thursday scurry on the kitchen floor. I sprang into action immediately doing a recognisance then initiated a kinder gentler search and destroy. After all, Kitty is a lover not a fighter...

By Friday morning (thankfully I had the day off) I mad a run to Canadian Tire and stocked up on no kill mouse traps. By the time I did a deep clean, peppermint oiled, steel wooled and duck taped the few holes I could find, I had already caught one cute little grey buggar. He was released, humanely down the street, in a park near an old utility shed. I honestly at that point didn't want to kill them, I just wanted them out and away.

By Sunday morning I had caught and released 4 others. but alas it seemed the remaining, what? few? (dear jebus I sure hope so!)were willing to take this up a notch. I could hear at least one attempting to gnaw through a wooden grill covering my hot water tank, but I counld not find him.

Well I awoke this morning to find that he not only broke trough, but he had at least one friend and they had opened two escape holes... Before heading to the office I did another deep clean, peppermint oiled, steel wooled and duck taped the new holes closed.

I have decided to this point not to poison the fuckers because well I have Santiago and I don't want to risk his well being... but at lunch today I did another run to Canadian Pneu and picked up some Rat Seed and I also got some Ultra Sonic Rodent repellers. (I've hear glowing as well as demoralizing reviews of these, but thought what could it hurt to try)

When I arrived home I did another check and found another damned access rout and took care of that and humanity be damned I filled it with seed then steel wolled and sealed that sucker shut. and then i set up the ultrasonic. There's a slight hum, but only if you are within a foot or so, and Santi doesn't even seem to notice them.

So we'll see how it goes. I will go easy on the seed but if they want to continue this war... I'll gladly drop a $20 in little mini mouse guillotines and off with their fucking heads!

It's not often I am jealous of others, but there are exceptions and one is Alexandre Bilodeau; Canada's first Olympic Gold Medalist on home soil.

But it's not because of his Accomplishment tonight, albeit phenomenal and I praise him and say he is a true Canadian Hero. no, it's not for that, it's because he has an incredible brother.

A brother that he admires. And more so a shared brotherhood that I deeply wish I had. Alas, whereas Alexandre is blessed with a brother that inspires, and encourages him, I have a brother that embarrasses, enrages and inspires siblicide.

Oh well. Fortunately I have friends that are more brotherly than he could ever be. And for that I count blessings.

OMG! I am such an Olympic Junky! And so is Pinky!

We've practically spent the entire weekend on sofa, eyes barely blinking for fear of missing a moment,

And this was an amazing weekend. Not only have we succeeded in already obtaining one of each medal, it was the that elusive Gold that was finally won. While not taking away ANY of the glory of the Silver and Bronze, this was an accomplishment most deliciously savoured.

Not only was this finally the end to a most truly Canadian curse (the ONLY host country never to have won a Gold on home turf) Third time's the charm, eh? But in that it was won by bumping a smug, arrogant little prick that forsook his Native Canada to compete for Australia, and condescended at any and every opportunity not only Canada but other countries as well. So to you Dale Begg-Smith I say SUCK IT!

And more importantly I say Congratulations to the first three, of MANY Medalists to come:

Quick Post #1. I gots me a Man.

I'm certain I've mentioned him, if only in passing, because lets face it, I've not been all that bloggy lately. Those of you on FaceBook will know more and been up to speed. For those of you on FB feel free to add me... (search me out by email: shawn@splusd.com)

Anyhoo... back to my man. I have to say things are still relatively new and fresh and silly honeymoonish, but well so what.

We learn from our past relationships and hopefully we grow from them, as well as with existing and new ones.

One thing I learned from my last relationship with D was that similar tastes and interests need deep and plenty. While a few similar interests are nice, if you have more unique interests than same walls are built, activities become solo, especially those of the social variety. I DIDN'T learn that from my first serious long term relationship, but I am well up to speed now.

Another is intellectual levels. I'm not talking IQ here. and I'm not saying I'm more intelligent that prior partners, nor were they more intelligent than me, I?, me. What I mean is that the two are equally matched intellectually. Matching senses of humour, morals and knowledge bases are not only desired, but know what i do now, are essential.

And something else, which for me is a first, is sharing a similar heritage.

In all three it can be said that some opposites are good for attracting, I have come to learn, in the long run that there is more than attraction; it only goes so far... and then what. And while it's great introducing that someone special to new experience, tastes, sounds, and so on, it's ever more delicious, to me at least to share all those favouite interests, loves, desires and commonalities.

While certainly not dating myself, I've can categorically say I've never been with someone as similar and matched as we are. And most importantly, Santiago likes him too...

For the record, his name is Marcel, but I call him Pinky. (Santiago calls him Senor Pinky, naturally)

He's a voracious reader, and also writes as well and has reopened that door, I had long since closed. He's a skilled foodie and coupled with a distinct Homebody-ness takes great pleasure in cooking lusciously delicious meals for me, as I do for him. He's a avid dog lover - we're now looking for a pooch of his very own (Santi and I have re-awaken that desire in him). Movie, TV and entertainment favouites abound. And our sense of humour is so in sync that we are consistently sharing the exact same snide remarks, entendres, and quips simultaneously.

There is of course much more but this was supposed to be a quick post, so we'll leave it at that.

It's rather prophetic that on the day I was intending to bemoan the latest time slot for Ugly Betty (10 pm Wed Night) ABC announced that they have canceled the show.

It's not much of a surprise really. They've fucked with the show since Season Two with a Hiatus, a Move to Friday and then this season another move to 10 pm on a Wed.

Even a hard core fan such as myself will only go so far before giving up. ABC claims they are announcing this now to give fans time to come to terms with this and allow the show to finish the season and tie up all the plot lines.

Christmas and New Years... but tied into all of that was a 15 day visit with my parentals, which coincided with an 8 day visit with Chachi and Flea (N@'s two Chihuahuas) I've also been rather occupied with a hunka hunka burning lust that shall henceforth be referred to as Mr Pinky.

But as busy and, well... exhausted as I've been, I've have been thinking of my old Blog here and missing her terribly... as I have been missing all of you! (You're still there right?!)

So instead of back blogging I will just move forward...

One year ago today... Santa Claus delivered to me the most fantastically amazing gift I've ever received. None other shall surpass this gift... as none can.

TO really understand and feel 100% unconditional love, all you need to do is have a dog in your life. I am so blessed, with Santiago de Montréal.

This past year has been more of a roller coaster than I would have ever preferred, but I can tell you this, through it all there was one unfailing, infallible constant... and that is the love I receive EACH DAY from my guardian angel...

Today is his day.

And tonight it's a special dinner with a special guest; Mr Pinky, and a special movie (Beverly Hills Chihuahua naturally) And tomorrow for the first time he will meet his Grand Parents, and in two days he invites his best friends in the world Chachi and Flea for a Christmas 8 day Doggie Camp...

It's all about Senor Santiago... it has been this way for 365 days.

Santi Meets Santa...

It was back on December 6th of last year that I visited Santa (As I do every year) and as per usual when Santa asked what I'd like I sad "a Dog" That year, as opposed to most he said he's see what he could to...

On December 15th I met a dog at the SPCA... a dog that would become mine not 4 days after...

Santa had followed through, and ahead of schedule.

This year I visited Santa on November 28th and gave him a Christmas card, thanking him for giving me Santiago, and including a pic of me and the wee beast. Santa asked why I didn't bring the dog along and I replied I didn't think I could bring a dog into the Bay, let alone up to the 7th floor. He said, well, Santa says you can...

So... one week later Santiago and I made the trip downtown on the metro, up up up the elevator to the 7th floor and directly to Santa.

I was greeted with "Hello Shawn. This must be Santiago..."

I'm telling you this is THE Santa...

We sat for a few pics, unfortunately, Santi took, like most two yead olds right hissy fit!

Santa was happy to met Santi nonetheless and Santi made a wish and asked for a huge bag of Puperoni and a new duckie...

So I didn’t ‘re-fill’ my Metro OpusCard on the 30th or the 1st because the lines were a little “Waiting for Santa” if you know what I mean.

What do I mean by ‘re-fill’ my OpusCard? Here in Montréal they got away from the disposable monthly passes for Bus and Subway and now we have permanent cards that you ‘re-fill’ or charge.

You go to little Posts in any of the Metro Stations and re-charge your card, either 6, 10 or 20 individual ‘tickets’ or a Month. It’s a rather painless system where you first insert your pass and then select what you’d like to get applied to the card and then pay.

True; it’s a simple process… perhaps TOO simple because what should only take 45 seconds to a minute per person sometimes ends up being a couple minutes or as was the case for me this morning (there was only 2 people in line so I thought this was the time… oh how wrong was I)

Person #1 was in and out in the pre-described 45 seconds. (yay)

Person #2… you stupid, STUPID girl! There are 3 modes of payment:
- Credit Card
- Debit Card
- Ca$h

… Ca$h… as in those lame-ass bill feed interfaces that will only accept a Bill, freshly printed and cut, less than 5 minutes from the Mint… Have those things EVER worked for ANYTHING?!?!?! Vending Machines? Change Machines? Parking Meters?!?! No. No they have not!

And it’s not like Dumbazz was a technophobe old biddy. No. She was a young wee thing. A young spirited 20 something with firm taunt skin on her face (bitch) Did she really thing she could enter in 4 $20 recently received from an ATM to be accepted in the payment slot for her Metro pass. And WHY THE HELL?! Didn’t she just opt to pay for the card WITH her debit card. Saving that $1.00 service fee just cost you AND me what was it? 7 minutes. YES! SEVEN MINUTES!

But here’s where Karma shows her true colours (seems she doesn’t like to wait in lines either) After the eternity of bills rejected, bills re-flattened, bills finally accepted, the system went down and her transaction failed. The Teller box does not spit back out her 4 x $20… nay-nay… what it proceeded to do was spit out 40 $2 coins.

To say I was over-joyed is an understatement. As she collected her rejected life’s savings I couldn’t help but snicker. She turned and gave me a look, to which I replied. “Well maybe next time you’ll just pay with Debit or Credit and save us all time. Oh… and Merry Christmas ” (Time to take the off-ramp)

At the end of 2008, women accounted for 50% of all adults living with HIV worldwide.

In developing and transitional countries, 9.5 million people are in immediate need of life-saving AIDS drugs; of these, only 4 million (42%) are receiving the drugs.

The number of people living with HIV has risen from around 8 million in 1990 to 33 million today, and is still growing. Around 67% of people living with HIV are in sub-Saharan Africa.

During 2008 more than two and a half million adults and children became infected with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), the virus that causes AIDS. By the end of the year, an estimated 33.4 million people worldwide were living with HIV/AIDS. The year also saw two million deaths from AIDS, despite recent improvements in access to antiretroviral treatment.

Sorry Kittens, I've been a bad blogger again. I just cannot seem to catch a break with my health recently....

Six weeks ago it was a hernia, 3 weeks ago a blasted nasty cold, and now...

...a most heinous sinus infection. I'll save you the goreys but suffice to say the antibiotics have been doing as number on my innards... I feel like I've eaten nothing but Indian for a fortnight. Other that the royal visits to the throne I am pretty much horizontal.

I'm even in too much discomfort to tell you about my day at 3 CLSC (clinics) and the emergency... once I'm feeling better and the venom is coursing through the veins I'll up date you. I get violent in one part that was most satisfying. But for now... back to bed...

Yes? You are? Good… ok I have a few questions, baring in mind that this is not something I normally do, but I was bored the other weekend and thought you know… why not? I’m on the market and you know, it pays to have a clean house when inviting over company… ;-)

Here’s the thing, what is the real upkeep involved here? ‘Cause personally it’s NOT the sort of place I want to have to shave THAT often. Hell, I tend to only shave my face once, maaaaaybe twice a week. On Sat, once I hit the one week mark I re-did ‘em and I would have done em sooner but as I’ve been sick and coughing and sneezing a lot I thought it best to wait til I and I’ll admit it went ‘smoother’ than the initial man-scapping but still it’s not a place where speed is an option, you just can’t go “Ginsu” down there. You need to have time on your hands…. And really it’s the sorta job that if you’re NOT going to do a good job, don’t bother… Personally I’ve been on the ‘receiving end’ of well… you know and it is NOT a place where stubble is attractive….

And since we’re on the subject, what is your preference? You like em in a fur coat or bare as a baby’s bottom?

OK, y'all best enjoy this one bitches!

Tonight, on my commute home I passed not one, but two, count em... TWO houses with their Christmas lights not only on (in one case I firmly believe they were never taken down) but also lit up. Yes Kittens, at least two douche bags in the City of Montréal have turned ON their Exterior Christmas Decorations.

You know me kittens. you KNOW I ***LIVE*** for Christmas... and you KNOW that secretly I've been planning the decoration schemes of my new place since the day I moved in; but people, please... give me a frickin break here... It's just way the fuck too early to be turning on Christmas Lights....

With this in mind, here are Misster-Kitty's Steadfast rules to Christmas:

1) Christmas Music.
Cannot be played until November 25th and no later than January 6th.

2) Christmas Decorations.
Cannot be displayed until December 1st and no later than Jan 6th. With the following exceptions:
2a) Exterior Illuminated Decorations MAY be permitted to be put up during the last week of November due to potential inclement weather in December (those in the south can just effing wait!) but aside from a quick check to ensure all are working, NOTHING is to be illuminated until Dec 1st.
2b) If you're a handicapped individual you may begin Interior Decorations during the last week of November. (Kitty is not a hateful bitch after all)
2c) If your colour scheme on Window, Door and or Exterior illumination is white (ONLY) with, or without a motif of Snowflakes, you are permitted to leave these lights up until the end of January and may at your discretion keep them lit at night... say if you're having a party or there is a fantabulous snow fall taken place at the time.

3) Trees.
3a) If you have an Artificial Tree (and really, I have to ask, WHY?) you can put it up no earlier than the 7th of December
3b) Natural Trees (you know this is the only REAL option, don't you Kittens) should not be put up any earlier than December 14th
3c) In either case (3a or 3b) the trees MUST be removed by January 6th

4) Office Decorations.
Should only be put up on the First Friday in December and should be timed with the end of the day, so as to be a more pleasant greeting to all on Monday Morning, and should be removed the First business day after New Years Day.

5) Greetings.
You should NEVER feel fear or the potential for recrimination in wishing someone a "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" in mixed company, on the street etc (If Office Protocol stipulates "Season's Greetings", that's fine, but if someone wishes you a Merry Christmas, you should return the greeting!) The only time one should refrain is if you are in a known non-christian location: Synagogue, Temple, Satanic Dungeon (hey it happens to the best of us on occasion... some of us try for at least once a month *cough cough*) At the local Jewish Deli and so on... Come on people share the joy of the season, don't be a douche! If when you greet someone with your most cherrful "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" and they say they are not christian, or do not celebrate Christmas, simple smile and say "Well all the best none the less" (and secretly, flip them the bird!)

6) Festive Holiday Attire.
Should be reserved from the Monday preceding Christmas Day, and may continue until New Years Day. Musical ties for men are NEVER acceptable. Wearing a Santa's hat in place of a tuque or other winter cap or hat IS acceptable, between the Monday Before Christmas and Dec 27th.

Note to Orthodox Christians...
Really? You just HAVE to be different, don't you? Just gotta rock the boat, holiday after holiday... Fine you should shift all specified start and end dates 2 weeks forward.

World Vegan Day

I know right? I had no fucking clue either! Aside from being gay... I like meat, so this could have TOTALLY slipped under my radar except...

Here in Montréal there is an annual Montréal World Vegan Day Fashion Show. Again I say... I know, right?!

Well I more than knew because not only was the emcee of this event none other than my bestest gal pal (and fag hag in training) N@ Lauzon, but as well one of the celeb invite guests was an old friend from back east Lucy Decoutere, star of Trailer Park Boys (Yea I don't watch the show, in fact it was only about a year ago that I found out she's even on it! lol)

So I just got back and it was a fun night...

Who knew that there are Vegan Fashion Designers... pas moi!

The Event is organized by the Concordia Animal Rights Association (CARA) Among other specially guests were Habs Georges Laraque, and also from Trailer Park Boys, Sarah Dunsworth, and local band Commander Keen (with Jalene Vandermey) They were actually kinda fun and did a kick ass cover of Cory Hart's Sunglasses at Night! No shit!

The important part of this event, for me at least, aside from being there to support friends was that 100% of the proceeds from this annual event go to the Montréal SPCA and their fight against Puppy Mills. And being the Father of a Puppy Mill Rescue Pup it's something I can support 110% ANd I got to hang with N@, N@'s Mom Ma Horton, BF Corn, Sis Dawn and Aunt... Um...N@'s Aunt.. heh And got a few mins to chat with Lucy . I've not seen her since I moved to Mtl back in 1991 It was short but sweet and I also scored some MAJOR karma by having her sign a pack a smokes for a co-workers boyfriend who's a big fan of the Trailer Park Boys... It's nice to see that Lucy hasn't changed one bit! She's still the same energetic foul mouth freak that I remember. Love ya Lucy!

Next year I'll go again and I'll be a little more proactive and mention this BEFORE so in case YOU want to go you'll know...
