Look who's Forty!

Yes Kittens...

...Forty years ago today, Walter Chell, bartender at the Owl's Nest Bar in the Calgary Inn (now Calgary Westin Hotel) in Calgary, Alberta invented the most holy of holy Canadian
cocktails...

The Bloody Caesar

I implore you to celebrate this day in the only imaginable way possible...

- 6 oz. Mott's Clamato Juice
- 1½ oz. Vodka (treat yourself... go for 2 oz.)
- 2+ Dashes Tabasco Sauce
- 2+ Dashes Worcestershire Sauce
- Celery salt (or Caesar Rim)
- Freshly Ground Pepper
- Lime/Lemon wedge
- 1 Crisp Celery Stalk

Rim highball glass first with the lemon slice and then the celery salt or rimmer. Fill this glass with ice. Add vodka and juice to ice, and season with pepper, Worcestershire Sauce, and Tabasco. Stir, and then garnish with a celery stick.

To Walter Chell... CHEERS!

Poodle called me a bad Canadian because I can't stand Caesars. It's the clamato juice. blech.

I'll take a bloody mary any day.

Oh Shirl, I forgive you... insofar as I'll have your share of the national bloody caesar annual allotment...

Cheers!

You can have my allotment as well since I don't drink.

Although on most days I wish I did.

Tanks Maria... you're swell!

Anyone else willing to give me theirs?

First, you said "rim" more than once. Heh-heh.
Second: Maria can have a Virgin Caesar (without the booze -- yeah, I know, I just said "virgin". Heh-heh)

Surly they have the measurments wrong it should be 6oz vodka and just a shot of clamato, that's how I would make it. Did you know Mott is an old victorian word meaning a Vaggie? Could be an aphrodisiac.

That comes as not much of a shock Mitz... seeing as it's a mix of Tomato and CLAM juice... I'll admit it sounds disgusting, but it's ohhhhhhhhhh so delish!

You can have mine, too Kitty. I have the same clamato problem as Kevin. But today at lunch half the people around the table had spicy Caesars and we spent a good 20 minutes discussing Caesars and the pros and cons of Caesars as hangover cures

I wonder who first had the idea to mix clam juice and tomato juice. I mean really, were they sitting around, perhaps under the influence of vodka, with a basket of tomatoes, a bucket of clams, and a blender? Was it invented on a dare? Don't get me wrong, I *like* Caesars, but how did it all get started? And what other strange animal/vegetable blends could they come up with? Hmmm, clamato... Ratsparagus? Cowtichoke?
Collieccoli?

Sorry, I've drunk too much wine during Grey's Anatomy and I have to go to bed now.

YAY! more for me! Thanks XUP

Collieccoli LMAO!
