a pox on me... or not...
A pox damn you, you muddy rascal, is that all the comfort you give me?
~William Shakespeare
Henry IV Part 2, 2. 4
SO I went back to see the Doc today, get the results from my blood tests last month. Seems all is ok, some of my meds changed. Some up, some down...
What not only surprised both the good Doctor and myself, and has caused him to have to consult with a specialist is the fact that while I was just re-vaccinated for the Chicken Pox back in December of 2005 and January 2006, all the antibodies have disappeared!
It was not much of a surprise when none showed in my blood back in mid 2005, as my last inoculation was when I was but a wee young thing... and since I never contracted, even a mild case, he ordered the course for me then. Both on the Autumn of 2006 and summer of 2007 I showed anti-bodies, but *POOF* just a little over two years later and I'm pox-anti-bodies-less...
And I do not relish having to have the shots again, because despite what you might think, they hurt like effing hell!
Like Edina's body absorbing mud, mine devours the Chicken Pox Vaccine...

Suck it up, Princess!
Sorry -- that's a line that I use frequently at work.
But the sentiment's the same: For the love of all things good and holy, have the shot if you need it. It's better than getting chicken pox.
I had the pox when I was a kid -- but then again, I'm about a dozen years older than you, and we didn't have a vaccine.
HEH! I will be, no worries. but he's actually concerned how my body destroyed the anti-bodies. It's a bit of a mystery.
well, just goes to show your immune system works...agressively.
as long as it doesn't start attacking you, & the good parts, those that are legitimately there for a reason. i've had a few shots for hep B, & i still don't show any anti-bodies. they say it must be there but at an undetectable level... try figuring out science!!
good luck with that. that vaccine, in the tush or the shoulder???
;)~
Shoulder. And last time the 2nd injection caused me to not be able to use that arm for 2 days! Can't wait for this round (holding off til AFTER my trip!)
Good thing you didn't get it in the tushy. You wouldn't have been able to use it for two days!
smart decision!! nice to see you've got your priorities str8 !!!
enjoy your trip first.
:)~
I didn't think anything about Kitty was straight!
"we" prefer 'gayly forward'
When you have chicken pox you have it for life, the virus lies dormant in the spinal fluids (or somewhere) just waiting for a chance to make a come back in later life(a bit like Aretha Franklin) and when it does it's called shingles.
Well see, that's just the problem I've never had it and while I've now been vaccinated as a child and as an adult (not 30 months ago) I have no antibodies, and I should be swimming in them.
"shingles"?
i know i speak french, but ain't it something on the roof???
;)~
HEY YOUR leaving tomorrow - right??
BON VACANCES!!
Be brave my pretty .. I mean my kitty .
The (originally) herpes medicine acyclovir (sp?) takes most of the trauma out of chicken pox. If you get chicken pox, see a doctor quick, and it won't be bad at all.
