A breath of fresh air.
I have been afflicted with the most heinous and powerful cold. What started as a tickle in the back of my throat only on Tuesday Afternoon has quickly spawned into the most intense cold with minute long coughing fits that leave me like a good sex session... breathless, grasping my chest and near tears.
I called in sick today and will do the same tomorrow, but the only thing that's helping me get through this black plague of a cold is: Santiago cuddling in super close, NeoCitran Extra Strength that is just LOVELY taken intravenously, and my new NetiPot.
NetiPot you say? Why, whatever on earth could that be? We'll I'll tell you... it's s'not for making tea... at least not the sort of tea one would commonly refer to. OK yes it does make a nice 'Green tea' but again, not what you'd expect.
What a NetiPot is, exactly, is indeed a little blue 'tea pot' shaped tool that you fill with distilled or filtered water, add a NeliMed 'nasal rinse' packet (Sodium Chloride and Sodium Bicarbonate powders) Mix, and then pour though one nostril as it fills your sinus cavities and drains out the other nostril. Then you repeat, but in reverse...
I can tell you it's SNOT for everyone. And I'm surprised I was even able to do it. But what I'll say is this... YES it's disgusting. YES it's messy. YES it's uncomfortable (You're flooding your head with salt water for god's sake!) ... but once you've dried off and given one last blow for old time's sake... you actually feel refreshed and more importantly you can breath! Breath like you have never breathed before! And better still you don't end up going through a box of Kleenex every hour. Sure you still feel like shit, you've got a killer cold, but you can breath damn it and that's at least ONE step in the right direction.
So the next time you're sick and congested I say, do yourself the favour and drop good money on pouring a teapot full of salt water up your schnoz... you'll that me when your through.

Kitty's B&B
... for business.
I'll be receiving my first house guest tonight through to Saturday, the sweet, the adorable, the small and fuzzy... Hasenpfeffer, (HasenP for short) o.k.a. Colin a friend from Hali.
I met him this summer here in Montréal, the day before my break-up with D. So while I'm looking forward to seeing HasenP, his arrival does also make me recall a very difficult period, one that's not so old yet.
So basically if I get moody, I'll blame him and insist he ply my spirits with, well, spirits...
At any rate, I'll be picking up Hasenpfeffer after work. Here's a pick of what I suspect it will look like...

It's Raining Men...
Thanks Pizzlewig for the tip...
Random moments of happiness on a Sunday Afternoon...
What am I baking?
... Cinnamon Raisin and Hazelnut Bread Pudding...
Guaca and Mole had a bath and their place is now decorated for Hallowe'en...
On the way over to friends for Brunch and Ugly Betty I passed this 'Skate Park" that cost tax payers over $400,00.00 (Don't EVER get me started!) It's generally filled with 20-somethings desperately trying to grasp onto their fleeting youth... well today it was filled with ACTUAL kids... and they were appropriately dressed and while there where yells and screams... they were of happiness and glee... not vulgarities and catcalls.
After Brunch, Eddie the Cat found the purrfect spot to hang out... on Richard's lap.
It's been a great Sunday and now Santiago and I are curling up on the sofa to watch Fatherland.
Hope y'all are having a great Sunday too.

Future Fags of the World
We met for coffee and then off to the Montréal Botanical Gardens to see the Annual Chinese Lantern Exhibit. But before it got dark we took a look through the Green Houses and went to the Exhibit House to see this years Pumpkins designed by local school kids...
It's fun to see these and you're amazed at some of their concepts and designs... But as wonderful in design as they are, there's always a few in the crowd that just scream "GAAAAAAAY!".
And here they are... I give you... the future's gay artistes creations...
In Third Place...
A Coco Chanel Perfume bottle.
It's all in the details.
In Second Place...
A Gayer than God "Rainbow Heron".
Just look at the repeated use of the Rainbow throughout the piece...
And in First Place...
A piece simply entitled...
"DISCO"
What MIGHT impress, and surprise you, as it did us, was that Disco was NOT created by a little Sylvain, or Gaston, or Jean-Patrice... no-no... "DISCO" was created by little Roxanne... Yes that's right... First place goes not to a mamsy-pansy Fag-to-be, but to what is just as important to the gay sub-culture... a future Fag-Hag.
Roxanne... Brava to you darling; Bra-va!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Friends like Kenny and Richard, Jason and Franco. for all their help with my move, be it in lending me a vehicle, transporting me to shops or hospitals, helping carry boxes down and up stairs and for all the other things too countless to mention.
Graham and Tony and Franko for calls when least expected that helped lift an old fags morale.
To Susan for knowing the right time to send such a wonderful email to send my heart soaring.
To N@ for aiding the Kitty Charity Fund on numerous occasions and just being her damn funny self, especially at times of crisis, but more importantly, each and every day..
To Didier, for the good times.
To my Parents for help making the the Man I am today, able to hang on when life gives you shitty lemons.
For my grandparents, espically Nanny Newbury for showing me what self reliance and independance really are and for showing me that while speaking your truth won't always win your brownie points... people will know exactly who YOU are; for better or for worse. BE Yyourself, and Love.
To each and every one of you reading this that have over the past couple of years shared the highs and the lows in my life and yours.
...and most especially for Santiago, for so much never ending unconditional love that if I didn't have I honestly don't know how I'd have made it through the past couple of months. He is a three pound furry ball of pure concentrated love that I look forward to waking up to in the morning, being with every possible waking moment of the day and glad to always have ample space for him on my lap, in my arms, on my bed and always in my heart.
Happy Thanksgiving Kittens.
Don't forget to take a moment and share what you're thankful for as well.

TAAAAAA-DAH!
The Final reveal of My and Santiago's new home:
The Lispine Chapel of Saint Sebastian.
Why "The Lispine Chapel of Saint Sebastian"?
Here's why... to be honest I like the substitution of Lispine in place of Sistine... and seeing as there are currently 27 photos, paintings, icons and images of Saint Sebastian, I thought the quasi-religious name seemed appropriate...
The stairway to my Haven...
Homo Sweet Homo...
From the outside front door...
Santiago always answers the door...
From the inside front door...
Senor Santiago de Montreal bids you... ¡ Bienvenido a nuestro Casa!
Living room on the Left, Bathroom on the right, Dining Room gayly forward...
View from the other end of the Hall...
Livingroom...
from the door...
Bathroom...
Diningroom...
from the Hallway...
from the Kitchen...
Kitchen...
from the Diningroom...
Bedroom...
from the Diningroom...
So that's pretty much it... hope you likey. Me likey long time!
There are still a coupler things to do... ie the curtains still need to be hemmed in all the rooms (except the bedroom) but that's next weekend's project.
And if you want to see what makes this place Santiago's home... check out his blog and see the 5 portraits of him I had commissioned so that there was a little canine touch in every room.
