IdFLQ - CANADA

Oh Canada... or should I say Awwwwwwwwwwww, Canada.

Canada ran technically a foul tonight... And such a shame What a PERFECT display it would have been otherwise....

Like Mexico a few weeks back, about 5 minutes into the program no music and no fireworks. It was 10:30pm before they got back up and running, and that's an incredible shame because that all but takes them out of the running.

The show started back and for another minute or so you wondered if it was actually really going to continue (too much low action...) and then WOW! they went for it!

It was an interesting concept, called OLYMPIAN ZEUS. The music was all different themes from prior Olympics. Some of which you easily remembered, like LA in 84, and (shudder) the Calgary Olympics in 88... (GOD that was some awful music!)

The fireworks were in incredibly synchronized with the music and there was LOTS of BIG and HIGH fireworks... The colours were amazing and well just a little gay... LOTS of Rainbow colour displays! :-)

Anyhoo...

some pics for y'all...

And now the standings... while I think Canada should be in the top three, because of such a blunder and a 30 minute wait I'm afraid they will have to be an Honourable Mention...

so...

GOLD: USA
SILVER: England
BRONZE: Hong Kong

HONOURABLE MENTION: Canada

And then you have...
Spain
Mexico

I feel like I do not need to see another fireworks display ever again. I mean I have front row seats to this one and its all for FREE! Love it! - Thanks!

OMG!!!!
we certainly did not comment the same way about this.
i'll grant them they made a nice comeback, but they had managed to piss me off....

Oh, we were mucho pissed off at the delay, but the show itself, once it got going was quite well done. I think they'd really have had a shot if it were not for the delay... I will admit that even if there was no delay the USA was still better. :-)

BTW
i meant to ask:
do you set your camera at the right settings?
i find that you pick up a lot of light in the background...

My favourite part of this is Didier's head.

Was that him? Or someone else?

Either way - I loved it.

I put it on Night with no flash In all my fanagaling that's the best my ol shit pot camera will do....

heh not Didier's head. Our neighbour Sylvain...

Cause of the length of exposure sometimes they look like ghosts...

then, perhaps i benefit from the angle, since i'm on the 8th floor... i'm no expert!!

Sean Newbury said...

I think your angle is a large part, you dont have to compete with as much of the city... even just a couple extra blocks away can make a difference... I need to play with the settings a bit more...
You're are great as always... I end up taking about 60 pics... last night was about 80 ! then I weed out all the crapola...

though, i look at your pics, & it's like you pick up every source light in the environment, like an anti-contrast filter...
when i look in your direction, i don't see any major source of light.
maybe the streetlights below, between you & the bridge cast off a glow that seems negligeable, but enough so to modify the capture of your pics...
can't explain it...
are you sure you set your camera to twilight-landscape, not just twilight?
how many megapixels does it have?

Sean Newbury said...

There's no twilight setting :-(

My angle is crossing Rene Levesque, ad Papineau, pluss the parking of CBC...

no twilight settings???
now, that's why!!!
