IdFLQ - MEXICO

Well, if you like White Fireworks, and practically nothing else, then Mexico was your night...

...for the rest of us however, who like a bit of variety and, dare I say it... COLOUR, well then Mexico was a bit of a snooze fest.

Add into that, a 5 min technical delay a mere 5 minutes inot their display, and you really begin to feel bad for them.

Their display was called "Chocolat" so we, being the good Chocolate lovers that we are, had HIGH expectations. It was not to be.

The music, it's one saving grace used a piece from my favourite Movie Composer... Ennio Morricone. They chose a piece from the movie The Misson which I absolutely love. As well they played some bizarre operatic corale version of La Bamba that we just over the top enough so as not to be enjoyable, and a spanish version of "My Way", which as Didier points out is NOT originally an American (Sinatra) song, but a French song called "Comme D'habitude" by Claude Francois.

Ok, enough babble, so you wanna see some pics...

It starts...

...and then, stops...

...and then starts again... Look closely, this is one of the few parts with colour...

Look, white fireworks...

Oh!, white fireworks...

Could it be? White fireworks...

Look Ma... White Fireworks...

Wait a minute... is that, colour?

Spoke too soon...

Gasp! White fireworks...

LOOK! If you look deep enough... hints of colour...

ANf finally, the finale... with, what's that? C-c-colour.

So, now, the moment you've patiently await... with three of the participants done, our scores are as follows:
GOLD: England
SILVER: Spain
BRONZE: Mexico

i know you've read my blog & seen the pics... ;)~
what a releif not to be the only one who found it SO bland & un-entertaining....
my first thought was:'there must have been a great deal on white fireworks!!...'
they must have bought this wholesale, & decided to throw the whole lot into the sky that night, to get rid of their inventory.
maybe people back home complained about those white fireworks, & montreal was the place where they chose to dump the whole lot.
sorry for us!!!
i was honestly bored out of my mind.
but i just went back to live earth & everything was fine :)~

Heh!

You know I USED to LOVE a whole sky full of white glimmering fireworks, but well... Mexico has sure cured me of that.

I pray that Hong Kong will be better on Wednesday.

After Mexico I needed a drink!

We went to the Old Port and caught the fireworks. They were a little blah and I thought it was just me, thanks for clarifying that they were sucky now I just may go and catch next weekends! Except I have to maneuvre my way around 15 million other people. We bought jumbo hotdogs at $3.75 a pop and a bottle of water at $2.75. I could have bought an entire case of water at that price and probably an entire cow to make hot dogs for what I spent for 4 of them.

It was a nice night even if my daughter soacked me for 2 of those glowing thingies (MADE IN CHINA for 10 cents and sold here for a steal at $5.00).

HA! I'm stocking up on those damn glow sticks (5 for a $1) for Pride and DiversCité. AND Water guns! Nothing better than soaking a couple hotties in the village... Maybe it's just me, but guys look hotter wet! ;-)

It's fun to be a kid once in a while... ok a perverted over-aged kid, but a kid nonetheless.

Yea Maria It wasn't you it was Mexico.

What's really sad is an acquaintance from France (the good friend of my Sister-in-Law) is here from Aix-en-Provence (France) and she chucked out mucho deniro for her and her two kids to go to La Ronde and paid the extra to see the fireworks... As bad as the fireworks were for all of us, we didn't drop almost $100 on the evening!

Maria said...

its OK since she is from France $100.00 canadian is something like 50E which doesn;t seem so bad since they got to enjoy LaRonde at the same time. I am NOT big on LaRonde and neither are my kids THANK GOD! So we spend our bucks on the waterslides.

Portugal or France - maybe.

Well good on Didier and his birthday celebration. You can go to Giggles (or maybe any other party store) and get him one of those tapping singing balloons. I bought one for my son over the weekend with the song "Celebrate Good times C'Mon" You just tap the balloon and it sings for you.

So darn cool!

My hubby's b-day is this month also. What do I get this year to top last years Porsche?

Sean Newbury said...

OMG... YES France! oopsie!
